چکیده

Neutrino-electron scattering can be used to probe neutrino electromagnetic properties at low-threshold underground detectors with good angular and recoil electron energy resolution. We propose to do this using a number of artificial neutrino and anti-neutrino sources such as 51Cr24 and 90Sr−Y . The neutrino flux is known to within one percent, in contrast to the reactor case and one can reach lower neutrino energies. For the 90Sr−Y source we estimate that the signal expected for a neutrino magnetic moment of μν = 6×10μB will be comparable to that expected in the SM and corresponds to a 30% enhancement in the total number of expected events. pacs13.15.+g 12.20.Fv 14.60.St 95.55.Vj ∗ E-mail: [email protected] † E-mail: [email protected] ‡ E-mail [email protected]

Tests of physics beyond the Standard Model with future low energy neutrino experiments

Neutrino-electron scattering can be used to probe neutrino electromagnetic properties at low-threshold underground detectors with good recoil electron energy resolution. We study the sensitivity of Helium detector experiments, such as HELLAZ, for artificial anti-neutrino sources. We show that, for a Sr − Y source, one expects a sensitivity to the neutrino magnetic moment at the level of μν = 2 ...

Ultra-Low-Energy Germanium Detector for Neutrino-Nucleus Coherent Scattering and Dark Matter Searches

The status and plans of a research program on the development of ultra-low-energy germanium detectors with sub-keV sensitivities are reported. We survey the scientific goals which include the observation of neutrino-nucleus coherent scattering, the studies of neutrino magnetic moments, as well as the searches of WIMP dark matter. In particular, a threshold of 100-200 eV and a sub-keV background...

Combining dark matter detectors and electron-capture sources to hunt for new physics in the neutrino sector

In this letter we point out the possibility to study new physics in the neutrino sector using dark matter detectors based on liquid xenon. These are characterized by very good spatial resolution and extremely low thresholds for electron recoil energies. When combined with a radioactive νe source, both features in combination allow for a very competitive sensitivity to neutrino magnetic moments ...

Neutrino-induced muons observed with MINOS

The Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search (MINOS) experiment’s Far Detector has been operational since July 2003, taking cosmic ray and atmospheric neutrino data from its location in the Soudan Mine Underground Lab. Numerous neutrino-induced muons have been observed. The detector’s magnetic field allows the first determination by a large underground detector of muon charge and thus neutrino...
